We fell in love; The Engine Works
We’ve always loved industrial spaces and factory conversions, so we were intrigued when we heard the story behind one of Scotland’s most exciting new venues.
Steeped in memories and stories, The Engine Works is a Glasgow institution. Dating back over 175 years and left to ruin, this former steelworks in the Maryhill area has been lovingly restored by Michael McDonagh and Adele Gahagan – who grew up locally and walked past it their whole lives. Instead of seeing an almost condemned building, they visualised a creative space that the whole of Glasgow could love and enjoy.
